Lisbon’s Long Love Affair With Art Tile

I love old ceramic tiles! My grandparents used to bring a few home from their travels in the 1950’s, then my parents did, and of course I have too.
And here in Lisbon, well, let’s just say I am feasting my eyes upon all the tile there is to see everywhere. On one our walks we came upon an especially beautiful building that had once been the factory where many of Lisbon’s tiles were made. The first few photos are of that building, front and back.

There are many more photos below, so keep scrolling. My photos are not editing into place the way I want them to. But anyway, Enjoy!

Doorways & …

Doorways…so often referred to in philosophical conversations. Metaphors for opening into new adventures. As I look at these doors in the Midi-Pyrenees of France, very old, and very real, with cobblestones worn smooth from time and use, I can only wonder. Who passed through these openings, and gazed from these windows?
